Dry-aged beef is a trend from New York that we are perfecting in Zurich. We age the porterhouse, bone-in rib eye, and club steak in-house in 30, 60, or 90 days. Another special is the meat from young Argentinian bulls (beef fillet – entercôte – rump steak), which feed exclusively on juicy and nutritious herbs from the Argentine pampas.

When you enter Simon’s in the Niederdorf section of the old town, you’re instantly faced with the core of its kitchen – the flame grill. Luckily, the grill and the whole kitchen are behind a glass partition, so only the meat chef has to deal with the smoke and the flames. Argentinian and US beef are served here; the latter is dry-aged between 30 and 90 days. We chose the bife de chorzio (entercote) and the bife de lomo (fillet) with fries and grilled vegetables. Both pieces of meat were expertly grilled, tender, and quite flavourful.
The chimchurri and bearnaise sauces complemented the beef and even the tomato soup we had as a starter was beyond reproach. However, we recommend a table in the back of the big dining room as the atmosphere is more pleasant and there’s no cold air from the entrance or noise and smoke from the kitchen.

Simons Steakhouse Zürich
You will never hear Mr. Hubby say “No” to meat (rather anything non-vegetarian). In India, although we are non-vegetarian, we seldom eat meat. So, during Mr. Hubby’s first visit to India, my parents cooked nonveg food once or twice a week (which is a lot for my family). While leaving Pune, Mr. Hubby reminded me that he had never lived so long without having meat (It was his first time).
Fast forward to 2018, and he is a changed soul. He has reduced his non-veg consumption, and once, he tried a week-long vegetarian diet (It’s hard for this dude). But whenever he gets to sample good food (especially non-veg), Mr. Hubby gets ecstatic. On one Sunday, on his colleague’s recommendation, we visited Simon’s Steakhouse in Zürich’s old town.
We struggled to locate this place (like any other place in Zürich’s old town). But on arrival, we were greeted by well-dressed staff. We didn’t encounter crowds since we were having late lunch, but I am sure you have to reserve a place during peak hours.
Our Story of Simons Steakhouse
Elisha Simon started Simon’s Catch in 1993 as a single mom, teaching school then. She has since retired from teaching and still serves the best Catfish, Steaks, and Shrimp in Western Oklahoma! Well-known for our all-you-can-eat catfish served family style at the table. You will get endless sides, including Aunt Tiny’s family recipe coleslaw, chilled pickled green tomatoes, slow-cooked pinto beans, fish, fries, and hushpuppies!
Our family recipe fried shrimp is fried to a golden brown and served with a side salad and dinner roll that we bake fresh daily! If you want a good steak dinner, you will not be disappointed in our hand-cut USDA Choice or higher-grade Ribeye, KC Strips, and Filets. They are served with a side salad and fresh dinner roll! See us just south of Elk City, OK. We are exit 34 from I-40 ( Merritt Road), then go 1 mile south and 1 mile west; look for the signs!
